Assignment: Animated GIFs

2. Create Two Animated GIFs:

Exercise 1: Blink

• Use the eye drawing you created in Homework #6 in Adobe Illustrator.

• Import your eye drawing into Photoshop.

• Animate the eye to make it blink using the techniques from the tutorials.

• Experiment with:

  • The number of animation frames.

  • The frame rate (fps) to control the blink speed.

Exercise 2: Cut-Up Cinema

• Step 1: Take photos of yourself or friends.

  • Use a high-contrast solid background to make cutting out the subject easier.

• Step 2: In Photoshop:

  • Cut out the subject from the photo to create a digital puppet.

  • Use the Puppet Warp Tool to create movement.

• Step 3: Animate your puppet:

  • Duplicate your subject into different frames.

  • In each frame, adjust the puppet’s position using the Puppet Warp Tool.

  • Add background layers, additional people, or text to enhance the animation.

• Step 4: Use the Timeline Panel to create a Frame Animation.

  • Display each layer in a different frame to create the animation.

3. Submission Instructions:

• Export both animations as GIF files.

• Post your GIFs to your website.
