Homework #7: Color and Pattern due 3/31 for Monday, 4/2 for Wednesday and 4/3 for Thursday
1. Required Viewing:
Watch these lessons from “Illustrator 2024 Essential Training”:

Ch. 14: Patterns (Lessons 1, 2)

2. Create Two Documents in Adobe Illustrator:
Color Scheme 1: Use a Color Rule like analogous, monochromatic, complementary, triadic, or compound.
Color Scheme 2: Create a Color Mood from an image, as demonstrated in the lecture.
3. Design Your Patterns:
Use geometric shapes (circles, triangles, squares, rectangles, etc.) as the foundation of your patterns.
Experiment with layering shapes for visual interest.
Use the Pattern Options window in Illustrator to adjust grid size, dimensions, and grid offset.
Save your pattern using the process from the tutorial.
4. Document Settings:
File 1: Size: Film (4K) (4096 px x 3112 px)
File 2: Size: Print Tabloid (792 pt x 1224 pt)
5. Export and Submit:
Export both patterns as PNG files.
Upload the PNG files to your website.
6. Written Description:
Write a 200-word description for each file on your website.
Explain:
The color design you chose.
How you made your decisions.
What the patterns could be used for (e.g., clothing, gift wrap, posters, video bumpers).
7. Apply Your Design to Clothing:
Go to a design website (as shown in class) to apply your pattern to clothing, like a shirt.
Take a screenshot of your design (Command + Shift + 4 on Mac).
Include the screenshot alongside your PNG files on your website.
